河流

While filming River, I travelled through the mountains and dense forests of northern Xinjiang to a remote pasture near ice-covered peaks. A Kazakh herding family lives in a wooden house beside a river fed by snowmelt. The house, pasture and river form the setting of their daily life and work. Everyone there is very quiet, making the child’s singing and the sounds of the land all the more distinct. I let the camera linger on working hands, the light inside the house and moments people share, gradually sensing how solitude and everyday life intertwine. The river keeps flowing, and life has its own rhythm. I want to draw closer to that rhythm, to feel how a person lives alongside family, animals and the vast, quiet land around them.
